About Us

Let me be the first to welcome you to Walk The Line.
The creation of Walk The Line was the culmination of over five years of searching the world in pursuit of my own recovery from a C6 Spinal Cord Injury. Unable to find the ideal recovery facility in one location, my parents, husband and I decided to start our own facility. Together, along with Dr. Steven Hinderer, and three brave trainers we opened the doors to our first location. Our goal was and always has been to help our clients achieve their goals for recovery through hard work, innovation and creativity.

What started out as a bare bones spinal cord injury only recovery gym has evolved into a highly technical physical therapy recovery facility, of approximately 11,000 square feet, treating individuals with a range of conditions from spinal cord and brain injury to stroke and other neurological conditions and with an age range from 7 years old to over 85 years old. This diversity in clientele along with the diversification in staff of Physical Therapists, Physical Therapist Assistants, Athletic Trainers and Exercise Physiologists has propelled Walk The Line from its humble beginnings to a global leader in recovery for spinal cord and brain injury.

With determination YOU create opportunity where others see misfortune.

The key elements of the Walk The Line program are: an innovative protocol that challenges our clients and traditional paradigms, creative and individualized programs for each client and a family-oriented and community-driven environment.

Innovative protocol and sessions– We know what happens when we do what has always been done after a spinal cord or brain injury so from day one we committed to doing things differently. Our unique protocol was developed based on known science and published research along with our own data gathered using our Noraxon surface EMG system. Our protocol and recovery programs incorporate full load bearing activities in order to promote increased blood flow, bone density and muscle activation.

Custom programs– We offer 90 minute or 3 hour sessions that are customized programs based on the client’s goals, their current ability level and their desired ability level resulting in an effective and innovative treatment session where the client not only feels stronger but they are stronger.

Community– Often those visiting Walk The Line for the first time comment on the inviting and invigorating energy that they feel entering the center. The spirit of our community can be found in monthly survivor peer groups, by participating in our Community Events program or on the floor in the form of information sharing, joking around or encouragement.  As much as our clients achieve physical recovery they also find themselves more confident, more social and more active in the community. Nothing could make us happier than seeing our clients living their lives to the fullest.

YOU create your own destiny

I would like to extend an invitation for you to come in and tour our center, meet our staff and observe session activity. We also offer a Free Trial for those interested in starting the program. If you have questions, please email me at erica@WTLRecovery.com.

So, what are you waiting for – the time is NOW.
